HAJIPUR: To monitor and supervise the development projects initiated in the state by the UPA government for rural development, state and district-level standing committees would be formed under the presidentship of the secretary of state rural development department and the district magistrates.
Talking to TOI on Sunday, Union minister for rural development and Vaishali MP, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said the process has been started for the formation of standing committees in the state.
"Almost all the district main roads and other link and rural roads have been taken up for their strengthening and widening under the PM Gram Sadak Yojna and the district project reports have been prepared under the guidance of technical experts," Singh said.
"The Standard Binding Document (SBD) prepared by Central government technical experts would be adapted to estimate the expenditure as well as quantity of material required in the construction of roads," said Singh.
Throwing light on the standing committee''s objectives, Singh said the DMs of each district would preside over the meetings of district-level standing committees on roads and its members would keep a watch on the work.
Singh said SPs of each district would be among the members to sort out any law and order problem.
"The construction of roads in the state will gather momentum by February and to put a check on the use of substandard material, the state vigilance department has been asked to provide the scheduled rate of cement, stone chips and other materials," Singh said.
